This ancient, hand-carved, stone relic from the Meiji Era some 150 years ago is a rare architectural treasure from Japan.
In Japanese culture, Hojus are wish-fulfilling jewels which are there to bring blessings upon those who have suffered greatly in life, and also helped their owners gain an understanding of the cosmic law of Dharma. This particular jewel, called a 'kuurin,' is set upon a very basic sort of pedestal called a 'gorinto.' Some say it's the brain of a dragon enabling you to acquire treasures. It also represents the power of Buddha who can grantany wishes.
It measures 11 inches tall and 7 inches wide.
